KasheDantek is a system of philosophies in performance and outreach linking Caribbean and African Diasporic sensibilities. It is the root source for all KasheDance activities. This codified curriculum is employed to train company dancers and students, develop our choreographies, and guide audience and community engagements. KasheDanTek incorporates Afro-Caribbean and contemporary movements, music, philosophies, and training techniques.

Biography:

Focused on culturally responsive arts practices, place-making, and connecting communities through cultural inquiry, Mr. Ormsby explores Caribbean and African diasporic dance traditions through He has performed across Canada, the U.S., and the Caribbean with choreographers including Garth Fagan, Liz Lerman, Lemi Ponifasio, Patrick Parson, Ron K. Brown, Denise Fujiwara, and others. Kevin received the Jamaica Diaspora Impact 

Award for Cultural Leadership (2025) and was honoured with the Victor Martyn Lynch-Staunton Award (2014) and the Patrick Conner Award (2023). He was a finalist for the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Prize in 2021 and nominated again in 2023. 

His technical approach, KasheDantek, reflects the synergy between pedagogy, research, and performance. As an educator, he has taught at Centennial College and been a guest artist at the University of the West Indies (Mona), University of Wisconsin–Madison, Northwestern University, and the University of Texas–Austin.
